By accessing or using ScamSignal ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these Terms at any time by posting the revised version with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
ScamSignal is an AI-powered scam risk analysis tool that provides educational information about common scam patterns. The Service uses pattern matching and artificial intelligence to estimate the likelihood that a submitted message contains scam indicators. The Service draws on publicly available data from government agencies and industry sources for its pattern library.
ScamSignal is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any government agency, including the FBI, FTC, FCC, or any state attorney general's office.
ScamSignal is NOT a substitute for professional legal, financial, or law enforcement advice. All analysis results are AI-generated risk estimates, not definitive determinations of fraud or safety. You should not rely solely on ScamSignal to make decisions about sending money, sharing personal information, or taking (or refraining from taking) any action.
AI outputs may be inaccurate. Like all AI systems, ScamSignal may produce incorrect, incomplete, or misleading results. Specifically:
Always exercise your own judgment, verify important information independently, and consult qualified professionals (attorneys, financial advisors, law enforcement) when in doubt.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, purchase a subscription, or manage a Family plan. Individuals aged 13–17 may use ScamSignal with verifiable parental or guardian consent. Children under 13 may not use ScamSignal directly. If you are a parent or guardian managing a Family plan, you are responsible for your minor dependents' use of the Service.
ScamSignal does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information through ScamSignal, please contact us at support@scamsignal.ai.
Content you submit. When you submit a message for analysis, you grant ScamSignal a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service (risk analysis, pattern matching, and AI-powered assessment).
How we handle your data. Your submitted message and analysis results are stored in our database to enable result sharing and scan history features. For unregistered users, this data is stored with a random identifier and is not linked to your identity. Registered users can delete their scan history at any time. We also retain de-identified scam-type labels to improve our pattern database. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
Do not submit sensitive personal information. Do not paste content containing Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, passwords, or other highly sensitive personal data into ScamSignal. While we delete submitted messages after analysis, you are responsible for redacting sensitive information before submission.
ScamSignal relies on third-party services to deliver its functionality, including but not limited to Anthropic (AI analysis) and Google Web Risk (URL risk checking). These third-party services are provided "as is" and may experience outages, errors, or changes outside our control.
We do not guarantee the accuracy, availability, or continued operation of any third-party service. If a third-party service becomes unavailable or changes its terms, ScamSignal's functionality may be affected, and we are not liable for any resulting service degradation.
You may use ScamSignal for personal, educational, or organizational scam awareness and fraud prevention purposes. You may NOT:
ScamSignal offers free and paid tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods.
Family Plans. If you purchase a Family plan, you represent that you are at least 18 years old, that you have authority to manage the accounts of the individuals you add, and that any minor (aged 13–17) added to your plan has your parental or guardian consent. You are responsible for all activity under your Family plan.
The free tier includes limited analyses per day. Analysis results may be cached temporarily to enable sharing and reduce redundant processing. Rate limits may be adjusted without notice based on service capacity and abuse patterns.
API access for commercial use, higher rate limits, or enterprise deployments requires a separate commercial agreement. Contact us for licensing inquiries.
The ScamSignal pattern library, detection methodology, educational content, and software are proprietary. Source data citations from the FBI IC3, FTC, and other public agencies are attributed to their respective organizations.
You may share individual analysis results through the provided sharing feature. You may not reproduce, modify, or distribute ScamSignal's proprietary methodology or detection patterns without explicit written permission.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY OF AI-GENERATED OUTPUTS.
No guarantee of detection. We do not guarantee that ScamSignal will detect all scam types, variants, or evolving techniques. A failure to flag a scam (false negative) does not create liability.
No guarantee of accuracy. We do not guarantee that results labeling a message as risky are correct. Flagging a legitimate message as a potential scam (false positive) does not create liability.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SCAMSIGNAL AND ITS OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
Liability cap. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ScamSignal and its operators, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights; (d) any content you submit to the Service; or (e) any use of analysis results in a manner that causes harm to third parties.
Informal resolution first. Before filing any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at legal@scamsignal.ai and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
Binding individual arbitration. If informal resolution fails, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitrator shall have exclusive authority to resolve all disputes, including the scope and enforceability of this arbitration provision.
Class action waiver. YOU AND SCAMSIGNAL AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, COLLECTIVE, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims or preside over any form of representative or class proceeding.
30-day opt-out right. You may opt out of this arbitration provision by sending written notice to legal@scamsignal.ai within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Your notice must include your name, mailing address, and a clear statement that you wish to opt out. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the courts specified in Section 14.
Small claims exception. Either party may bring qualifying claims in small claims court instead of arbitration.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. For disputes not subject to arbitration (including if you opt out per Section 13), you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware.
We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these Terms, suspected fraudulent activity, or harmful use of the Service. You may stop using ScamSignal at any time. Termination does not relieve you of obligations incurred prior to termination. Sections 3, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 18 survive termination.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ScamSignal regarding use of the Service. Any prior agreements, communications, or understandings are superseded by these Terms.
ScamSignal's AI-generated risk assessments are estimates, not definitive determinations. If you believe ScamSignal has incorrectly flagged a message, URL, phone number, or business as risky or fraudulent, you may submit a dispute by emailing support@scamsignal.ai with the following information:
We will review disputes in good faith and may update our pattern library or analysis logic where appropriate. We are not obligated to change any specific result but will consider all credible submissions. We aim to respond within 14 business days.
